A hit Chinese movie is turning Japan’s Hokkaido Island into the popular new tourism spot for Chinese travellers.
Japan Times reported that the romantic comedy, ‘If You Are the One”, which was screened during the Chinese New year period, featured Abashiri, a scenic fishing town in northern Hokkaido overlooking the Sea of Okhotsk.
According to officials at the Beijing office of the Japan National Tourism Organization, they have been flooded with inquiries about the tourist spots featured in the movie. Some young Chinese even said they want to have their weddings in the area.
