Royal Caribbean International will invest approximately US$300 million in an upgrade of its onboard facilities, in a new project entitled ‘The Royal Advantage’. The enhancements to the Vision, Voyager and the Radiance class ships will be undertaken over the next three years, and will see liners enhanced with new technology, digital way-finding systems, outdoor LED video walls, nursery facilities, new statement rooms and additional dining facilities. Guest cabins will feature new technology in the form of Wi-Fi connectivity and interactive flat-panel televisions, while guests will be able to navigate their way around the ships using a new system offering information onboard activities, real time updates, directions and routing from special interactive screens.
“The Royal Advantage revitalizations takes many of the best features that we have created in recent years and introduces them across our fleet, offering our guests enhanced vacation choices around the world,” said Adam Goldstein, President & CEO of Royal Caribbean. “We never stop trying to make the experience even better, and no other cruise line can offer the same high quality vacation experience with such an array of choices that cater to every guest.”
The Royal Advantage upgrades began with Radiance of the Seas in May 2011, and will be followed by Splendour of the Seas in November 2011. The second phase will commence in 2012, with Rhapsody of the Seas, Grandeur of the Seas being upgraded next May, followed by Serenade of the Seas in November 2012. In 2013 and 2014, additional Vision-class ships, including Legend of the Seas (pictured above) and Vision of the Seas, four Voyager-class ships – Navigator of the Seas, Voyager of the Seas, Explorer of the Seas and Adventure of the Seas – and the Radiance-class Brilliance of the Seas will all be enhanced.
