Royal Caribbean International (RCI) announced today it will introduce selected Oasis-class features on the Freedom of the Seas and Liberty of the Seas. From early 2011, features such as the Royal Babies and Tots Nursery and 18.5-foot outdoor video screens will be on the ships, as well as the wayfinding system that helps visitors navigate around the ship. Following the announcement of Chicago production joining the Allure of the Seas, another as-yet-named Broadway musical is set to join the Liberty of the Seas. Cupcake Cupboard branches will open onboard and Vintages wine lounges will also be opened. “We have received such overwhelmingly positive guest responses to amenities, entertainment and programmes that we debuted on Oasis of the Seas that we are introducing some of them aboard Freedom of the Seas and Liberty of the Seas,” said RCI Senior Vice President of Hotel Operations Lisa Bauer. Additionally, RCI has launched three Cozumel shore excursions including a series of ‘voluntourism’ activities. “Voluntourism: The Mexican Red Cross Landscaping Project” allows guests to plant trees and shrubs in a Mexican community in a four-hour excursion. For an additional fee, families can go on the “Xcaret Shark Encounter” to swim with nurse sharks or the “Mexican Wine Tasting at Xcaret Park” trip to learn about food and wine pairing.
