“2007 is a monumental year for Philippine tourism. This is the first time that thecountry will be accommodating more than threemillion tourists,” Durano said in a statement read by DOT Central VisayasRegional Director Patria Aurora Roa during the openingof the three-day Philippine International Tourism Fair (PITF) this week,according to Cebu Daily News.
The Fair attracted 110 foreign and 300 local buyers in Cebuto attend the PITF and the Philippine Travel Exchange (Phitex).
Beforemeeting with sellers on yesterday, the 110 foreign buyers went on city tours tosee what Metro Cebu could offer tourists,Naitas Cebu President Jenny Franco told news wires. Durano noted that the PITF,like other travel fairs would helptravellers learn about the country’s wide range of tourism products.
