Discovery Travel, part of RP Group is keen to expand its presence in the Asia market.
The company has announced its intent to open representative offices in Vietnam and the Philippines.
This expansion is part of the efforts to drive tourism from UAE to less-travelled destinations in Southeast Asia and also promote UAE as a tourism destination in South East Asia.
“We strongly believe that there is room for us to leave a further imprint, especially by leading outbound travel from the UAE to new Southeast Asian destinations of cultural and historic importance. Destinations such as Vietnam and Cambodia are beautiful and also affordable,” said Ramesh Patnaik, general manager, Discovery Travel.
Patnaik further added: “We are seeing a shift in the travel preferences of our GCC customers since 2011. Earlier, they were keen on commercial destinations such as Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. However, in 2012, more than 75,000 people from the GCC countries visited the Philippines and that number grew to 80,000 the following year.”
Discovery Travels, is also planning on opening an office in Kerala to drive inbound tourism from Europe with a stopover in Dubai.
