The 71-year-old, who suffered a lengthy, unspecified illness, opened up cheap
weekend breaks and short-haul flights to destinations across the
continent, AFP reported.
Ryan helped set up Ryanair in 1985 with just one 15-seat plane. The
first cabin crew recruits had to be less than 1.5m tall to be able to
operate in the cabin. It is now Europe’s biggest low-fare airline. This
year, it will carry 50 million passengers on 557 routes across 26
European countries, the report said.
