Sabre Travel Network has launched a new shopping solution to show the total cost of air travel. The tool, named Air Total Pricing, will display airline ancillary fees through the Sabre GDS. This can be viewed based on the customer’s preferences, as well as provide a summary of ancillary fees and access to charges based on the passenger’s frequent flier status. This includes an all-inclusive price for air travel, with both a traditional fare shown and additional charges. “Today’s launch of Sabre Air Total Pricing is an important first step toward providing travellers a truly transparent shopping experience, so they can select the best travel option and value, recognising that what travellers need can vary from trip to trip,” said Sabre’s EMEA Vice President Martin Cowley. “Providing this kind of detailed information is what our travel agents tell us they need and what consumers reasonably demand.” Baggage fees, lounge access, in-flight entertainment, pre-reserved seats, internet access and meals are amongst the options included. In addition, Cowley revealed that in the coming months, agents will be able to display, book and sell a variety of ancillary services through traditional processes or directly with the airline. “This is a first step developed for travel agents and consumers so they have complete insight into their true travel costs,” he explained. “Having this detailed information allows agents to advise customers on what services are available to them and what, if any, fees apply.” The tool is available from 20 September.
