Sabre Travel Network has launched a new merchandising tool with Air New Zealand to expand its ancillary distribution. The new solution includes the Electronic Miscellaneous Document (EDM) so that agents can shop and book AirNZ’s ancillary services as part of the usual workflow. Pre-paid luggage will be the first add-on to be introduced and others will be added throughout the year. Selected travel agents are testing the solution now, which aims to simplify comparison shopping for agents. “Expanding our merchandising capabilities is another way we help airlines increase revenues and get closer to their customers, while maintaining the streamlined operational efficiencies important to travel agents,” said Chris Kroeger, senior vice president of marketing, Sabre Travel Network . “Air New Zealand has been a terrific collaborator on this breakthrough new merchandising solution and we applaud them for leading the way in using industry technology standards.”
