Sabre provides real-time security information to help agents inform clients

Travel agents using the Sabre Travel Network will now be able to access real-time security updates specific to a client’s itinerary. The GDS provider has teamed up with e-Travel Technologies to enhance the Traveler Security product, which agents can use to advise clients on destination risks or disruptions. Traveler Security will now offer email alerts on worldwide events including terrorism, protests and weather, as well as the ability to research a specific destination and a scrolling list of current alerts. It has been launched in light of travel disruptions in Egypt and Russia, as well as the flight cancellations from snow in Europe and the US. “Travel agents need access to accurate, real-time information on issues that may disrupt a customer’s trip or create a security risk for travellers,” said Martin Cowley, senior vice president of Europe, Middle East and Africa for Sabre Travel Network. “By monitoring events around the globe and sending alerts directly to agents, Sabre’s Traveler Security allows agents to provide advice to customers traveling in areas of high risk or where an event has disrupted travel in a region”.
