Sabre Travel Network has revealed it will launch a new graphical view for its Red Workspace later this year. The new workflow is similar to an online booking tool and shopping cart style of booking and has been designed to offer a more streamlined process for travel agents. In a press conference today, Sabre explained that flight options, ancillary sales and the customer’s details have been automated or integrated into the system. It claimed to have cut seven or eight keystrokes down to one, with the aim of speeding up searches. “New features of the workspace includes calendar shopping for flexible dates; the opportunity to find more low-fare options; an easier way to shop ancillaries and airline extras; mapped-based hotel search by nearby attraction/business centre etc and an email function during the shopping so agents can email clients throughout,” explained Chris Kroeger, SVP marketing at Sabre. “There are two benefits: to increase productivity and to reduce the training time from six to eight weeks to as low as two weeks.” Graphical view is currently on beta trial with 56 travel agencies and TMCs. It is expected to launch in this year’s third quarter.
