They will bring over 7,700 delegates to the East Malaysian state, who will book an estimated 2,000 hotel room nights and generate RM16.3 million (US$5.1 million) in direct delegate expenditure.
SCB submitted more than 62 bids last year, of which it won 33, lost 24 and is still waiting for the outcome of five.
CEO, Jill Henry, said: “We were pleasantly surprised at our success in converting international and regional events, which actually outnumbered the national wins five to one.”
The Bureau is awaiting the opening of the 36,000 sqm Borneo Convention Centre Kuching in mid-2009.
