Saudia and Air India sign codeshare agreement

Saudia, the national flag carrier of Saudi Arabia, and Air India, India's leading global airline, have announced a codeshare agreement set to commence in February. This collaboration aims to boost connectivity, enhance the travel experience, and expand flight options for passengers, catering to the growing demand in tourism and business travel.

The agreement will allow Saudia's passengers to access major Indian cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, and Bengaluru, among others. Meanwhile, Air India travellers heading to Jeddah or Riyadh can seamlessly connect to Saudia-operated flights to destinations like Dammam and Madinah. The codeshare also introduces flexibility for passengers to arrive in one city and depart from another, with plans to add international destinations later this year.

Ibrahim Al-Omar, Director General of Saudia Group, remarked, "The codeshare agreement with Air India marks a strategic step forward, given both airlines' long histories and their shared commitment to increasing connectivity within their home markets and between their countries."

Campbell Wilson, CEO and Managing Director of Air India, highlighted Saudi Arabia's significance as a key market in the Middle East, noting the partnership's potential to enhance access for the Indian diaspora and promote Saudi Arabia's tourism offerings.

Saudia currently holds 25 active codeshare agreements, facilitating access to over 100 international destinations. This new partnership further solidifies Saudia's role in expanding global connectivity and fostering stronger ties between Saudi Arabia and India.
