Amadeus performed what has been dubbed as a ‘landmark research’ on worldwide trends in business travel together with Cranfield University’s Business Travel Research Centre.
The survey of more than 400 companies have produced tangible proof on what major global TMC players already know and have adapted to the changing nature of company’s way of booking travel.
Alarmingly, the survey of 424 travel managers with an average annual travel spend of US$35 million have unveiled that while 66% of these organisations have SBT available to them, only 53% of travel are booked online.
David Brett, president of Amadeus Asia Pacific stated that companies that use the online tool to its fullest capacity can save on average 25.6% on travel management fees, and further 9.1% on airline ticket spend.
The evolution of SBT products has made it much easier and more efficient for travel arrangers to realize the gains that are to be made using the tools making them more knowledgeable about travel purchasing.
Brett also added, “Companies are able to see more clearly the value of what their TMC is doing for them and are in a better position to evaluate that service”.
This will open communication channels and encourage a better partnership between companies and their TMCs.
