A travel company has unveiled ambitious expansion plans which could see its workforce double in the next 12 months.
Scotland’s Cruise Centre, based in Ayr, already employs 62 staff. But the company, part of long-established Stewart Travel brand, which has outlets in Ayr and Prestwick and is operated by the Minoan Group, is embarking on a significant recruitment drive as it moves from its existing base to much larger premises in the town.
The company has seen its specialist cruise business double in size since 2013. Spokesman Leigh Collis, the firm’s Head of Cruise, said: “We are all absolutely delighted to finally be installed in our new offices in Ayr. Our old building had served us well in previous years.
“However, the business has expanded so much, especially over the last couple of years that we simply outgrew it and needed to find somewhere larger and much more central to cope with the demands of our clients.”
The new complex offers customers a dedicated Cruise Expert who guides them through the selection and booking process.
Leigh said: “This means that we get to know them and can fully understand what they like and don’t like as far as their holiday is concerned. That’s why so many of them keep coming back to us and why they repeatedly recommend us to their family and friends.”
Marketing director Brian Wright said: “With the business growing at such a dynamic pace it was important to move quickly to secure much larger premises. If all goes according to plan we expect that our staffing levels will exceed 100 and possibly double to 120 or thereabouts within a 6-12 month period.”
