A member of Shanghai’s municipal government has suggested that the city should offer every local resident a free ticket to the World Expo as a reward for their support. According to a Shanghai Daily report, Shanghai Committee member Li Feikang said the CNY160 (US$23) ticket was not affordable for many poorer families.
“For everything they have contributed to the great event, local residents now should have an opportunity to taste their rewards,” Li was reported saying.
