Sharjah Tourism keen to build Russian numbers

Sharjah Tourism has rolled out several initiatives to bolster its tourism growth and strengthen its position in the world tourism map. The objective is to showcase the emirate as a complete family and leisure destination.
In light of the global initiative, HE Mohamed Ali Al Noman, chairman, Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority along with a strong delegation will be participating at the leisure Moscow 2013 fair. The event is scheduled to be held from 17-20 September in Moscow.
According to statistics recently released by the Authority, Sharjah is a prominent tourist destination for Russian tourists. Al Noman pointed out that the emirate received 220,662 Russian tourists during the first half of the year and Russians topped the list of international tourists to Sharjah, constituting 23% of the total number of international visitors.
The SCTDA Chairman said that the fair is an excellent opportunity to promote latest developments and projects in the emirate’s tourism industry and exchange ideas, experiences and expertise with the industry leaders and key players.
Al Noman said that the Authority is hoping to attract more Russian tourists and build new relationships and partnerships. The emirate is also looking to promote its cultural heritage, and environment to encourage more tourist numbers and investors.
