Singapore Airlines will cut fuel surcharges on many short- and medium-haul flights following a 30% drop in jet fuel prices. The cut will be effective for tickets issued from today. For flights between Singapore and ASEAN cities, the surcharge will fall to US$36 from US$40 each way.
For longer trips to Australasia, Japan, South Korea, greater China, South Asia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, the fee will drop to US$100 from US$110. However, the surcharge will remain unchanged for services to Europe and South Africa (US$110), and to cities in the US and Canada (US$180).
“Collections from the fuel surcharges will still only give partial relief from the increased expenditure on jet fuel, which remains at historically high levels despite the recent correction,” SIA said.
