SIA load factors decline in February

Singapore Airlines (SIA) experienced a 4.8-percentage point drop in load factor in February 2011. The carrier’s demand, measured in revenue passenger kilometres (RPK) declined 1.0% year-on-year, as the airline added 5.4% more capacity. This caused load factors to slip from 79.9% in February 2010 to 75.1% last month. All five of SIA’s regions experienced declining load factors, ranging from a 1.4-point drop on the airline’s routes to West Asia & Africa, to an 8.5-point slump on routes to and from East Asia.
