Visitor arrivals into Singapore dropped 13% year-on-year in May to 730,000, the Singapore Tourism Board has said. Visitor days were estimated at 3.1 million, a year-on-year decline of 10.6%.
Tourist arrivals from China (-40%), South Korea (-40%) and Japan (-30%) saw the sharpest drops in May, partly due to the outbreak of swine flu. Vietnam (+12%), Malaysia (+5%) and the Philippines (+1%) were the only markets to register growth.
