Singapore arrivals tumble in March

Singapore’svisitor arrivals fell 13% in March as the global economic downturn continued tohit tourism. 790,000 tourists arrived in the city-state last month, comparedwith 911,000 a year earlier, the Singapore Tourism Board said yesterday.
“Visitor arrivals in 12 out of the top 15 markets decreased compared to thesame month last year, a reflection of the impact of the current global economicslowdown on consumer sentiments and discretionary spending,” an STB statementread.
Malaysia, Germany and Vietnam were the only markets amongthe top 15 that saw a rise in visitor arrivals in March.
