Singapore defers projects

The Singaporegovernment is postponing an additional S$1.7 billion (US$1.25 bil) worth ofpublic sector projects to further ease pressure on construction resources in Singapore.
The government had earlier announced that it would postpone about S$3 billionworth of public sector projects to after 2009. ChannelNews Asia said with the latest decision, the government isdeferring a total of about S$4.7 billion worth of public sector constructionprojects to 2010 and beyond.
“The additional deferment will allow the existing construction capacityand resources to be channelled towards the timely delivery of some big projectssuch as the integrated resorts, Marina Business Financial Centre and theDowntown MRT Line,” said a Building and Construction Authority (BCA)statement.
