Singapore welcomed 811,000 visitors in February, 7% higher compared to the same month a year ago. The Singapore Tourism Board said this is a new record for visitor arrivals for the month of February. Visitor days were estimated to reach 3.2 million days, an increase of 20% compared to February 2007. Indonesia, China, Australia, the UK and Malaysia were Singapore’s top five visitor-generating markets. These markets accounted for almost half of total visitor arrivals for the month.
China surpassed 120,000 visitors, an all-time record achieved across any given month. Hotels were also hitting record highs for rates. The average room rate was S$256 while occupancies stayed at almost 80%.
