Saudi Arabia has emerged as a top tourism market for Singapore, following a 7% overall increase in visitor arrivals to the city-state in 2009 when compared with 2008, according to figures announced by Singapore Tourism Board (STB). In the same findings, the STB reported a 26% year-on-year increase in visitors from across the Middle East.To further strengthen the Saudi travel market, STB and some of Singapore’s leading travel and tourism companies are meeting with key members of the Saudi travel industry this week to update them on the city-state’s latest family-orientated attractions, unique nature and wildlife tours, and its luxurious hotels and beach resorts. STB will also be highlighting to the Saudi travel trade its recent brand evolution from ‘Uniquely Singapore’ to ‘YourSingapore’, which encapsulates the island nation’s position as a premier destination for personalised travel. The brand’s new website, www.yoursingapore.com, is a one-stop-shop for travel agents that allows them search for all the latest information on Singapore’s tourist attractions, as well as enabling agents to create individual itineraries for each of their clients on an interactive map of the island.”In an increasingly crowded market for destination marketing, YourSingapore allows the Singapore Tourism Board to build on the emotional connection travellers have with Singapore, and connect with them in the digital space. The Saudi travel industry can also capitalise on this by logging on to our website, and making use of all the resources we have on offer, to help plan the perfect trip for each their clients,” said Jason Ong, Area Director for the Middle East and Africa, STB.The visiting Singapore delegation includes leading travel companies and hotel groups, such as the Marina Mandarin, Bintan Lagoon Resorts and Quantum Reservations.
