A study by Contiki Holidays has revealed that tourbookings from Singapore toEurope and the UShave doubled in 2008. Stastistics for the first half of the year found thatContiki tour bookings from Singaporeto Europe matched the total of similarbookings for the full year 2007, with year-end figures expected to rise 75%.
Likewise tour bookings to the US haveincreased by at least 20% in the first six months of the year.
“Despite the fuel price increase early thisyear, we have noticed a marked increase in the number of tour bookings, especially to places like Europe and the United States,” said Nicholas Lim, Contiki Holidays’ RegionalDirector for Asia. “It’s a clear indicationthat although people are trying to keep travel costs down, smart travellers aretaking advantage of the weakened US dollar.”
Contiki Holidays specialize in organizing tours forthe 18-35 age bracket.
