Gleneagles Hospital Kuala Lumpur Sdn Bhd expects to increase the number of patients from Singapore once Singaporeans are able to use their Central Provident Fund (Medisave account) savings for medical treatment in Malaysia. The hospital is among the 12 private healthcare providers in Malaysia approved by Singapore’s Ministry of Health to provide treatment to its citizens and permanent residents.
Gleneagles Chief Executive Officer, Amir Firdaus Abdullah said Singapore’s Health Ministry on February 10 had announced that Singaporeans will be able to use their Medisave when seeking treatment at 12 selected Malaysian hospitals starting March 1 this year.
“With that we to see an increase in patients from Singapore,” Amir Firdaus told reporters after the signing of a partnership agreement between the hospital, Firefly and Holiday Tours and Travel Sdn Bhd, here on Thursday.
Currently, working individuals, both Singapore citizens and permanent residents including the self-employed, are required by law to contribute to the Medisave portion of their CPF, which can be utilised for day surgery and certain outpatient expenses.
