The number of visitors from Indonesia – Singapore’slargest visitor-generating nation – fell from 180,000 to 153,000; while Chinavisitor numbers declined from 77,000 to 70,000. Tourists also spent 0.2% lessin the first six months of the year, compared to the same period last year.
“This slowdown in the tourismsector’s growth may potentially continue into the next few months,” saidSTB’s Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive Lim Neo Chian.
But the board said it remainsoptimistic for the mid to long term when more attractions and facilities open.
