These were achieved in the first six months of this year. Of note is the performance of the hotel sector which saw record highs in terms of rates, according to data released by the Singapore Tourism Board.
“The first half of 2007 showed a continuation of the good momentum we have been seeing in recent years. The tourism sector has done even better than it did in the same period last year,” said Lim Neo Chian, Chief Executive and Deputy Chairman of the Board.
The first half of 2007 saw over 5% more tourists compared to last year.
The hotel sector was the toast of the town.
For the first six months of the year, the Average Room Rate grew by 19.5% to S$192, while occupancies reached 86%.
The all-important yields or Revenue per available room (RevPar) hit S$165.9.
For the whole year, the STB is targeting 10.2 million visitors -which is not a tough target to achieve.
