SKÅL Bangkok Puts Purpose on the Menu at Landmark Charity Mixer

No long speeches. No overdone formality. Just good people, good food, and a clear mission: spotlight the changemakers making Bangkok better.

That was the vibe  as SKÅL International Bangkok brought together over 40 leaders in tourism, government, and media for its July Networking & Charity Event at The Quad, the stylish new event space inside the recently refreshed Landmark Bangkok.

With the generous support of General Manager Francis Zimmermann and the culinary vision of Chef Philippe Gaudal—a Landmark legend whose decades of service are basically Michelin-worthy—the food hit all the right notes: international, familiar, but with flair. People went back for seconds. And thirds.

But what set the night apart was the heart behind it.

The evening recognized three individuals and organizations who don’t often make headlines—but should. Their work reflects what’s possible when service, compassion, and consistency come together:

Greg Lange and Friso Poldervaart, co-founders of the Bangkok Community Help Foundation, whose grassroots initiatives continue to bring real change to underserved areas.

Sr. Louise Horgan, of the Good Shepherd Bangkok Foundation, honored for more than 60 years of empowering women and children with dignity and education.

Also in the room: K. Chutiphon “Porshe” Niyamisara, attending on behalf of H.R.H. Princess Adityadorn Kitiykhun and representing the Land Bridge Project at the Port Authority of Thailand, and K. Kris Sampoosri, Protocol Officer from the Prime Minister’s Office—a nod to the event’s growing relevance across sectors.

SKÅL Bangkok President James Thurlby put it best:

“Strong communities are the backbone of great destinations,” said James. “A good place to live is a good place to visit—and that’s something every tourism stakeholder should take to heart. As we look ahead to our 70th anniversary next year, SKÅL Bangkok remains committed to supporting the local champions who make this city not only a world-class destination, but a better home for all who live here.”

The event’s format was just structured enough to feel intentional—giving room for casual connection without losing focus. A few creative surprises from the kitchen kept things interesting, reminding everyone why this group stands out in a sea of stuffy business cards and boilerplate speeches.

Special thanks to the event sponsors:
Prunk & Partners, Marvel Events, Flow Inter, Bangkok Vodka, Serenity Wines, Chalong Bay, and Move Ahead Media—whose contributions helped make the evening unforgettable for all the right reasons.
