The Slow Cyclist, known for its small group e-cycling and walking holidays, has unveiled a new six-night cycling journey across Norway's Vesteralen islands in the Arctic Circle, set to launch in summer 2026.
This marks the company's first venture into Scandinavia, offering a unique opportunity to explore the region's stunning landscapes and rich cultural heritage.
Founder Oli Broom expressed excitement about the new route, stating, "This is our first journey to Scandinavia and it’s a special one in Norway, one of the most beautiful countries on earth."
A friluftsliv-centric adventure
The journey invites participants to embrace the Norwegian philosophy of friluftsliv, which encourages enjoying the outdoors regardless of weather conditions.
Travellers will stay in charming accommodations, ranging from converted timber fishing warehouses to rural guest houses. The itinerary includes cycling along Andøya's scenic roads, visiting a Sami culture and reindeer centre, and exploring the dramatic fjords of Langøya.
Participants will also have the chance to witness Arctic wildlife, including whales and puffins, and experience the midnight sun in summer.
The tour is priced at $5,600 (£4,595) per person for a group of 12, covering accommodation, meals, activities, and e-bicycle hire.
A 1% donation to local causes is included, as The Slow Cyclist aims to support local communities, ensuring tourism investment benefits the families and businesses encountered along the way.
