Slump in India’s premium air travel

Premium air travel within India has fallen by 25-30% this quarter, according to a Hindustan Times report. Airlines reported that the drop is due to previously Premium travellers increasingly opting for the cheaper economy class or conducting business through video conferencing to cut costs. The report did not provide any figures, however it noted that India’s carriers sell an estimated 5,000 domestic premium seats per day, and often recorded 100% occupancy in these classes prior to this year’s economic difficulties.
