Following its soft opening in December, the Sofitel So Mauritius has now officially launched to become the first hotel in the world to wear the new ‘Sofitel So’ label.
Sofitel So is the designer, boutique hotel brand of Sofitel Luxury Hotels, featuring contemporary design and locations. The concept combines Sofitel’s French-inspired art de vivre with an international style derived from fashion, art and design.
Sofitel coordinated the design with two renown artists: Thai architect Lek Bunnag and fashion designer Kenzo Takada.
Set in one of the island’s best preserved and most protected regions on a 14-hectare site bordering a 520-metre white sand beach, the new resort features 84 suites (60 square metres in size), six Beach Villas (100 square metres), and two Beaulieu Villas (200 square metres).
The suites and villas are all free-standing and at ground level and feature private gardens and outdoor ponds or pools (for the villas), and patios with outdoor showers. The resortr also include the signature spa brand, So Spa.
Sofitel So joins sister label Sofitel Legend which was unveiled with the relaunch of the Metropole Hotel in Hanoi in 2010. The first Sofitel So in Mauritius will soon be followed by the Sofitel So Bangkok mid 2011, and later the Sofitel So Mumbai.
