The Southern Star observation wheel has opened in Melbourne, providing an iconic new landmark for the city, and a spectacular addition to its skyline. On Saturday, 20 December, hundreds of locals and tourists turned out to be among the first to first to take a ‘flight’ on the new attraction.
Located at Waterfront City in Melbourne Docklands, the Southern Star is the first giant observation wheel to be built in Australia. It is 120 metres high, holds 21 cabins capable of carrying 20 people at a time. ‘Flights’ last 30 minutes.
