Tourism levels in Spain rose last August, as the country announced record tourism figures for the month.
Overall, around 8.3 million tourists came to Spain in August, roughly a 7.1% increase on the same period last year. Of that figure almost a quarter (24.3%) were from the UK.
The figures, which were compiled by the Institute of Tourism Statistics by Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, also confirmed that the second and third biggest inbound markets were France (21.7%) and Germany (13.9%) respectively.
Equally impressive was the rise in tourism numbers from each of the top three destinations. German tourists in Spain rose by 15.6% on 2012 for example, while French numbers were up 4.5%, with British 4.8% respectively.
The most popular destination was Catalonia, followed by the Balearics and Andalucia.
