Police in Brazil have caught up with a driver who managed to accumulate US$1.9 million in speeding fines. The BBC reported that Sao Paolo police who pulled over Armando Clemente da Silva were shocked to discover he had clocked up nearly 1,000 violations.
Da Silva, 36, racked up the fines for speeding and running red lights over a seven-year period. His car has now been impounded and Brazilian media report that it will be returned in the unlikely event that Silva pays off his fines within 90 days.
The 12 year-old car is thought to be worth US$6,500.
