SpiceJet will add six more aircraft to its fleet in the coming weeks, as it gears up for a major expansion of its network.
For the winter 2015-16 season, the Indian low-cost carrier will operate 10 new routes and 30 additional flights on existing routes. This will mean it operates a total of 291 daily flights in the coming months.
“We have been speedily moving on the growth path by consistently adding new flights to enhance our overall network,” said Shilpa Bhatia, SpiceJet’s senior vice president and head of sales & distribution.
“With the new network schedule we are offering better timings, increased frequencies. With this enhancement we have significantly growing our capacity by 16%. Our new winter flight schedule adds considerable depth to our existing operations to cater to the peak demand while enhancing connectivity and boosting customer value.”
Among the new routes, SpiceJet will commence Ahmedabad–Goa, Mumbai–Varanasi and Varanasi-Hyderabad on 25 October, followed by Khozhikode–Dubai and Amritsar–Dubai on 15 November.
The airline will also add more frequencies on routes including Mumbai–Chennai, Delhi–Chennai, Goa–Mumbai, Delhi–Kolkata, Kolkata–Agartala, Mumbai–Kochi, Hyderabad–Mumbai, and Chennai–Madurai.
The airline said its expanded network “renders special attention to the tier II and tier III cities, aimed at unlocking the tourism potential from these cities”.
