Singapore, 16 December 2009 – Sprice.com, the world’s leading travel search engine, today announced the availability of promotions on Sprice.com in support of the Singapore Tourism Board’s (STB) ‘Christmas in the Tropics’ campaign. This is the first time Sprice.com is supporting a STB campaign, which is implemented by MediaEdge:cia, a global communications planning and implementation agency.
Sprice.com visitors from countries such as India, Indonesia and Malaysia who log onto Sprice.com will be led to a page that highlights Singapore as a preferred destination. These visitors will be provided with more information about Singapore attractions as well as flight, accommodation and activity options available to them should they decide to visit Singapore.
Visitors who tell what they are packing in their bags for their holidays also stand a chance to win attractive prices based on their responses as part of a contest run by Singapore Tourism Board.
Vikas Gulati, Vice President of Asia Pacific, Sprice.com, said, “Both Christmas and New Year fall on a Friday this year, offering two long weekends for everyone to enjoy themselves during the festive period. Singapore is an ideal option for visitors from countries in the region who just want a short getaway over a long weekend. Travelers looking to soak in the atmosphere of the Christmas season will find a range of flight and accommodation options to suit their requirements, regardless of their budget and interests.”
Rachna Julka, Interaction Manager, MediaEdge:cia, said, “Sprice.com offers a compelling proposition to this campaign as a preferred travel search engine in the region. By offering potential visitors genuine reviews and photographs of various hotel options, visitors have the ability to virtually evaluate their hotel options. All these, together with the attractiveness of Singapore as an exciting year end holiday destination, will make the decision for visitors to travel here an easy one.”
‘Christmas in the Tropics’ is a key event on Singapore’s tourism calendar and the experience remains a dazzling one even after 25 years. Many tourists from all over the world come to Singapore during the year-end season to join in the festivities each year. Last year, more than six million people visited Orchard Road and Marina Bay during Christmas season. The 2008 survey was based on 800 locals and visitors and found that overseas visitors to these precincts increased from 15 per cent in 2007 to almost 20 per cent last year.
