Spring Airlines, one of China’s four major private carriers, has confirmed that it has been granted approval from the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China (CAAC) to operate international air routes, Xinhua has reported. “We just got the approval. It still takes time to design specific routes, flight schedule and pricing. International business is a new field for us. We still need to study CAAC’s regulation,” Spring’s Chairman, Wang Zhenghua, adding that short-haul destinations such as Hong Kong, Macau, Japan, South Korea and Russia were the most likely destinations.Headquartered in Shanghai, Spring Airlines was founded in 2005 and currently has a fleet of 13 Airbus A320 aircraft flying on 30 domestic air routes, the report said. Wang said the company aims to increase the fleet size to 100 planes by 2015.
