KAT CHEN has been appointed Marketing Communications Manager with TMS Asia Pacific. Chen will take responsibility for the travel and hospitality recruitment specialist’s marketing functions across its entire operation, including Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and the UK/Europe. Prior to joining TMS, Chen was based in Macau where she consulted to destination marketing and travel portal Macau.com.
JONATHAN & NICOLE WISE have been appointed as the new President and General Manager of Fiji’s luxury Taunovo Bay Resort. The husband and wife team both held senior management and development roles at US-based hospitality real estate company, Antares.
M P PURUSHOTHMAN, founder-Chairman of Chennai-based Empee Group, has been elected President of the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Association of India.
Purushothman previously headed the organisation in 2000-01 and again in 2004-05.
DAVID LAVAL has been appointed as the new Executive Chef at the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, with responsibility for menus across the resort’s seven restaurants and three bars. Award-winning Laval has previously worked in restaurants at the Imperial Hotel in Japan and the Fairmont Southampton Resort in Bermuda.
BONNIE LAU has been announced as the new Director of Sales at the InterContinental Grand Stanford, Hong Kong. With more than 12 years of hospitality sales experience in Hong Kong, Lau spent the last 8 years working as DOS – Corporate at the Langham Hotel.
DANIEL CHEN has been appointed the new Director of Operations for the Swissotel Kunshan. Malaysian national Chen returns to his homeland having held positions in Brunei and Thailand, and most recently serving as Director of Food & Beverage at the Mayfair Hotel in Shanghai.
HELMUT H. MECKELBURG has been appointed as the new Regional Director for Middle East & North Africa with Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces. Meckelburg has been with Taj Hotels since 2001 as General Manager and later Area Director in India, returning to Dubai in 2005 as General Manager for the Taj Palace Hotel.
BOB VAN DEN OORD has been appointed Langham Hotels International’s new Vice-President - Sales & Marketing. Van den Oord has a successful track record in senior hotel management across the globe, most recently leading the repositioning of the Eaton Hong Kong. Dutch national Van den Oord speaks English, French, German and proficient Mandarin, as well as his mother tongue.
D.H. LAWRENCE has been appointed Director of Corporate Communications with the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA). Former newspaper journalist Lawrence has most recently been Managing Partner of a major Bangkok PR consultancy. Previous roles also include being Head of Corporate Communications in Europe for Lufthansa.
