STEVE HALLIDAY has been announced as Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts’ new Executive Vice President of Development for North America. Halliday, and first joined Pan Pacific back in 1984. Having successfully led the Pan Pacific Vancouver, Halliday was once voted ‘Canadian Hotelier of the Year’.
SAMIR PATEL has been appointed Managing Director of the Six Senses Spas division. His appointment supports the planned global expansion of Six Senses Spas. Indian national Patel was previously held the position of Vice President of Spa Operations and Development with Taj Hotels, Resorts and Palaces.
JOE MASI has been appointed General Manager of the JW Marriott Medan, Indonesia. US national Masi has over 23 years experience with Marriott, having held senior positions at luxury hotels in Asia, Russia and the US. He most recently served as Resident manager at the JW Marriott Hong Kong.
DR RUSSELL ARTHUR SMITH has been appointed Interim Dean for the Cornell Nanyang Institute of Hospitality Management (CNI). For the past four years he has served as the Vice Dean for CNI. The institute hopes to recruit a permanent Dean by 2010.
OLE NIELSEN has been appointed General Manager of the Pullman Khon Kaen Raja Orchid, Thailand. Nielsen joins the recently rebranded Pullman following spells with Accor’s Sofitel and Novotel brands in Asia and Australia. Prior to this position, he was General Manager of the Sofitel Boao, China.
GOTTFRID TSE has been announced as the new Front Office Manager of the InterContinental Grand Stanford Hong Kong. With over 10 years experience in the hospitality industry, Tse arrives at the Grand Stanford from the InterContinental Shenzhen where he also served as Front Office Manager.
JAMES Y.J. KIM has been appointed General Manager of the Plaza Royale Furongguo Changsha. Kim has more than 15 years of hotel management experience with Marriot, Hilton, Starwood and Accor across three continents. Prior to this appointment, he was Director of Operations in Renaissance Tianjin and Sanya Hilton Resort.
CAROLINA LI has also joined the Plaza Royale Furongguo Changsha in the capacity of Director of Sales & Marketing. Li has previously worked for Holiday Inn Riverside Wuhan and Best Western Premier Mayflowers Wuhan. She joined Howard Johnson International in 2007.
GUY VAN DER SCHOOT has been appointed Sales Manager for Exotissimo Travel. Since relocating to Thailand five years ago, Belgian national Van der Schoot has held sales positions with Asian Travel Service and CBS Travel Asia.
CHI PHAN has also joined Exotissimo Travel as the company’s new Travel Agency Manager for Thailand. Phan has over 10 years’ experience in Paris as a travel specialist with Maison De L’Indochine and Crous De Paris, and was most recently Thailand Country Manager with Other Ways in Bangkok.
THIDA MYINT has been promoted to the position of Director of Sales and Operations with Exotissimo. Having been with the company for the past nine years, Myint was previously Exotissimo Myanmar’s Sales Manager of English Department.
RICK WYSONG has been appointed Senior Vice President of Technical Operations with Virgin America. With more than 23 years of experience, Wysong most recently served as Vice President of Engineering, Materials and Planning at United Airlines, where oversaw 600 employees.
