The thirteen new hotels include properties in Taiwan, Macau, Lhasa, Tianjin, Nanchang, Zhoushan, Xian, Hainan Island and Guangzhou.
The aggressive hotelier said it would launch the first Asian version of its new aloft brand in Beijing, as well as the first St Regis resort in Tibet.
Other new properties include a Sheraton and St Regis on the rapidly-developing COTAI Strip in Macau as well as other Chinese properties including a W, two Sheratons, two Westins and one Four Points by Sheraton.
The rapid growth in the start of this year contrasts with 2006 when Sheraton only opened six hotels in the region.
Starwood currently operates 38 hotels in Greater China, and said it expected to open 33 new properties in the region within the next three years.
