Strong quake hits Indonesia

A 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit Indonesia’s northern Sumatra region yesterday, triggering a tsunami alert in nearby Thailand. According to a Channel NewsAsia report, citing the US Geological Survey, the quake struck at a depth of 46km at 5:15am local time yesterday. While a tsunami alert was issued, there were no reports of any damage or casualties.
