Swiss-Belhotel International has taken another step forward in its global expansion efforts with the opening of a new regional office in Athens.
The move comes as the Hong Kong-based company prepares to open its first three hotels in Europe this year.
“We have long been looking at investing in Europe and the new regional office will provide us with a springboard into the market,” said Swiss-Belhotel’s chairman & president, Gavin M. Faull. “We have achieved success in Asia Pacific and the Middle East and we feel the time is now right to take our nine international brands into Europe.”
To head the group’s regional expansion, Swiss-Belhotel has appointed John Lagos as its new vice president of operations & development for Europe and the Balkans. He will be based at the new Athens office.
Swiss-Belhotel currently has a portfolio of more than 125 hotels and resorts either operating or in the pipeline, but the company is planning to double this to 250 properties by 2022.
