ComfortDelGro, the largest operator of taxis in Singapore, is increasing its fares from next Monday. The new fares will see flagdown fares going up by 12% to S$2.80 (US$ 1.95) and higher metered charges based on distance. Charges for taking a taxi from the city area will also go up from the current S$1 to S$3.
ComfortDelGro said a 9-kilometre trip during peak hours will cost up to 49% more - to S$11.40 from the current S$7.65. ComfortDelGro says it will not raise rental fees for its taxis, following the fare adjustment.
With the largest operator raising fares, other operators are set to follow suit.
