With Thailand’s tourism sector now facing what in effect represents its biggest crisis since the 2004 Asian tsunami, Travel Daily Asia (TDA), in association with PATA, has initiated a “Put the $mile back in Thailand” campaign, intended to arrest the current industry slump and turn things around.
TDA’s Managing Director and Editor, Gary Marshall, has called on Thailand’s tourism industry and its overseas partners to throw their full support behind the campaign, which aims to collect a ‘prize pool’ valued at THB10 million (US$294,000).
This prize pool will consist of hotel nights, spa treatments, tour components and flight tickets, or whatever your company is willing to offer. No prize is too big, no company too small, as we create a huge, all-encompassing Thailand incentive designed to lure visitors back to the country.
The second part of the ‘Put the $mile back in Thailand’ campaign will see TDA take the lead in distributing details of the campaign to its global industry partners and customer contacts in many of Thailand’s key visitor source markets. Marshall also called on industry colleagues to spread the word to their own directories of contacts.
“We need to get Thailand back on its feet as quickly as possible, and with industry cooperation, we can,” Marshall said.
The ‘Put the $mile back in Thailand’ campaign already has the full support of PATA President & CEO-elect, Gregory Duffell.
To join the campaign, please email info@traveldailyasia.com, detailing what your company would like to donate to the prize pool. With your support, we’ll Put the $mile back in Thailand!
