Thai AirAsia will not immediately follow AirAsia’s decision to charge passengers a nominal fee for conventional check-in. The Bangkok-based airline is rolling out self check-in options through online and smartphone services but it will not be adding charges for standard counter check-ins, for the time being at least.
Tassapon Bijleveld, Chief Executive Officer of Thai AirAsia, said; “There is a possibility that we will start charging for conventional counter check-ins in the future in order to encourage people to turn to self check-in options. However, this is still to be confirmed-there are many things we still need to consider, including how ready we are to facilitate self check-ins.”
