In an effort to help struggling Thai airlines cope with soaring costs, the Thailand’s Civil Aviation Department has halved landing and parking fees at over 20 of the country’s airports, the Bangkok Post has reported. The temporary plan was introduced on Friday 1 August and is scheduled to last six months. However the ruling does not affect the country’s busiest airports, including Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi and Don Muang facilities, which are owned by Airports of Thailand (AoT). Thailand’s Transport Minister Santi Prompat has requested AoT considers cutting fees at its airports.
