Thai firms design IT solutions for small hoteliers
A consortium of Thai IT firms is pooling resources to service small-time hotels in Thailand and the wider ASEAN region.
Using cloud-based technologies, the group plans to make IT solutions affordable to smaller tourism operators. Speaking to the Bangkok Post, Chief Executive Officer of Touch Technologies Chatchada Apichasutthakul, said the cost of an online hotel-management system is beyond most independent hoteliers. “We can help these small hotels set up an online system based on private cloud solutions with fees starting from THB10,000 (US$322) per month,” she said, far less than average setup costs of TB600,000.
Targeting hotels with room inventories of 50 rooms or less, the companies will jointly promote and sell software solutions through a one-stop website www.vmagician.com, which is due to launch next month.
The concept will initially be marketed in Thailand before expanding to key ASEAN destinations including Tokyo, Manila, Ho Chin Minh City, Bali, and Kuala Lumpur. With an estimated 100,000 plus small operator in the Asia Pacific, International Marketing Distribution Manager of Comanche International Jerry Bigayan, expects to attract up to 4,500 domestic clients and 2,500 international clients by 2012.
