The Thai government has dealt another blow to its already-battered tourism industry by making a sudden decision to ban alcohol during Buddhist holidays, starting next week. And according to a report in The Nation, business leaders are far from happy at the latest sweeping measure.
“This is the same old issue – the government rising up to destroy tourism,” Thai Hotels Association (THA) President, Prakit Chinamourphong, was reported saying. “The government should have communicated the order well in advance to foreign tourists, so they could plan their activities and celebrations better while staying in the country,” he added.
