The Tourism Authority of Thailand wants Phuket’s tourism industry to learn how to best lure Korean tourists who are coming to Thailand in big numbers. The Nation reported that TAT is organising a workshop that will see travel companies, restaurants, airlines, souvenir shops and others participating.
TAT Deputy Governor, Pensuda Priaram, was quoted saying that the number of Korean arrivals to Thailand had risen sharply over the past five years.
In 2006, Korea was second only to Japan in terms of tourist arrivals, with 1.1 million arrivals. Their preferred destinations in Thailand are Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket and Chiang Mai, Pensuda was quoted saying.
