IAN ALEXANDRE (pictured) has been appointed to the newly-created position of Vice President for Sofitel Pacific. Alexandre, who also becomes General Manager of the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth, will oversee nine Sofitels in Australia, NZ and the South Pacific region.
PETER FRENCH has been named as Raffles Hotels & Resorts’ new Regional Vice President for Europe, Middle East & Africa. French will continue his role as General Manager for Raffles Dubai, as well as overseeing hotels in Paris and the Seychelles.
STEPHEN FORD has been appointed General Manager of The St Regis Shenzhen. Ford, who also serves as Starwood’s Vice President and Area Managing Director for South China, was previously General Manager of the Sheraton Sanya Resort.
NICHOLAS DOWNING has become the new General Manager of the W Retreat Koh Samui. With more than 20 years’ experience, Downing has held executive roles at properties in the Maldives, Australia, Seychelles, Cambodia and Thailand.
FRITZ SOMMERAU has been appointed General Manager of Marco Polo’s Prince Hotel, Hong Kong. A Swiss national, Sommerau has held executive positions at Movenpick and The Peninsula in Hong Kong, Manila and Beijing for the past 23 years.
CHRISTIAN SACK has been named as the new General Manager of the Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor in Siem Reap. An Austrian national, Sack has 22 years’ experience and joins the hotel from the Shangri-La Hotel Tokyo, where he served as Resident Manager.
GILLES CRETALLAZ has been appointed as pre-opening General Manager of the new Sofitel So Bangkok, which is due to open in late 2011. A French national, Cretallaz has worked with Sofitel since the early 1990s, most recently at the Grand Amsterdam.
WAYNE REYNOLDS has been announced as the new General Manager of the Pullman Reef Hotel Casino, Cairns. Reynolds has worked at several properties in Australia and Fiji, most recently as General Manager of Peppers Beach Club & Spa, Palm Cove.
JOHN SULEY has been appointed as Celebrity Cruises’ new Director of Culinary Operations. Suley, who is regarded as one of the USA’s top up-and-coming chefs, was previously Executive Chef at Gotham Steak at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami.
ROBBY KAUDITAN has been appointed General Manager of Swiss-Belhotel Papua, in Jayapura, Indonesia. Kauditan brings more than 22 years of hospitality industry experience to the role, having worked in hotels in Indonesia, Qatar and Ethiopia.
INDRA KEMAL has been appointed as the opening General Manager for the new Swiss-Belhotel Merauke in West Papua, Indonesia. With more than 25 years’ hospitality experience, Kemal has worked at several five-star international hotels in Indonesia.
IWAN KURNIAWAN has been announced as the new General Manager of the Swiss-Belhotel Silae Palu, in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. Kurniawan has an F&B background, with more than 17 years’ experience in Indonesia with hotels and restaurant chains.
GARETH WALTERS has taken the role of Director of Sales & Marketing for the Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor in Siem Reap and the Raffles Hotel Le Royal, Phnom Penh. Walters joins from Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, where he was Director of Sales.
SANJANA BHATTACHAN has been named Director of Sales & Marketing for the Sheraton Krabi Beach Resort. Ms Sanjana previously worked with Marriott International, as Cluster Director of Sales for Leisure for properties in Bangkok, Hua Hin and Pattaya.
SIRINATE MEENAKUL has been announced as the new Director of Marketing & Communications for the Sofitel So Bangkok. A Thai national, Ms Sirinate will also serve as Regional Director of Marketing & Communications for Sofitel Southeast Asia.
FRANCIS AMBATT has been named as Starwood Hotels & Resorts’ new Director of Human Resources for the Maldives, overseeing the Sheraton and W resorts in the country. Ambatt has 15 years’ experience, and joins from The Westin Hyderabad.
KANNIKA MAHAPURKSAPONG has been appointed as the new Director of Sales & Marketing for the Ramada Encore Bangkok. Ms Kannika previously worked in the same position for the Garden Cliff Resort & Spa, Pattaya and Le Fenix Sukhumvit, Bangkok.
NIPAPAT SOOKTALAE has been appointed Director of Sales for the Mercure Krabi Deevana. A Thai national, Ms Nipapat has more than 20 years’ hotel experience, most recently as Director of Sales at the Imperial Queen’s Park Hotel, Bangkok.
